Dual Citizenship

  1. Regaining Kenya Citizenship 

  • For Kenyans born either in Kenya or abroad before 27th August 1987 and who acquired other nationality BEFORE 27th August 2010.
  • Please note that all applicants who apply for Regaining Kenya citizenship are also required to apply for Declaration of Dual citizenship (make sure to read the instructions thoroughly and submit all the required documentations and fees).

         Requirements:

    1.  Regaining application form duly completed Form 5 (Download link below)
    2.  2 (two) copies of Kenyan passport (Biodata page only) or identity card previously held.
    3.  2 (two) copies of valid Passport of the other country (Biodata page only).
    4.  2 (two) copies of Naturalization Certificate of the other country.
    5.  2 (two) passport size pictures. (Note: Most current picture taken maximum within the last one month)
    6. If your name on the foreign documents is different from your name on the Kenyan documents, please provide 2 (two) copies of supporting documentation e.g Marriage Certificate, Divorce decree, Kenyan deed pool (Official name change process) etc.NB – Petition for Name change filed in other countries are not legally recognized in Kenya.
    7.  A Money Order or Cashiers Check of $540.00 (or equivalent in Indonesian Rupiah), Payable to Embassy of The Republic of Kenya.
    8. A prepaid, self-addressed (addressed from the Embassy to your own address) DHL return envelope must be submitted with each application. Please ensure it has adequate postage.

  1. Declaration of Dual Citizenship

  • For Kenyans above 18 years of age who are also nationals of other foreign countries (acquired another nationality AFTER 27th August 2010)
  • A dual citizen is required to disclose her/his other citizenship within three months of becoming a dual citizen.

         Requirements:

    1. Applicant must be 18 years or above.
    2. Declaration form duly completed Form 2 (Download link below).
    3. 2 (two) copies of Kenyan Passport (Biodata page only).
    4. 2 (two) copies of Kenyan National I.D and / or Kenyan Birth Certificate.
    5. 2 (two) copies of valid Passport of the other country (Biodata page only).
    6. 2 (two) copies of Naturalization Certificate of the other country.
    7. 2 (two) passport size pictures. (Note: Most current picture taken maximum within the last one month)
    8. If your name on the foreign documents is different from your name on the Kenyan documents, please provide 2 (two) copies of supporting documentation e.g Marriage Certificate, Divorce decree, Kenyan deed pool (Official name change process) etc.NB – Petition for Name change filed in other countries are not legally recognized in Kenya.
